Focus: Reimagining of the Pool, Terrace, and Landscape Areas
The President Hotel holds a special place in Cape Town - often called the city’s “most loved hotel.” This project was about transforming its pool and terrace areas into a resort-style destination that truly celebrates its Bantry Bay setting and microclimate, appealing to both local and international guests.
As the client representative, I oversaw the appointment of the professional team and contractor, and ensured the project ran smoothly around a fully operational 350-room hotel. The result was a revitalised outdoor space that feels fresh, relaxed, and distinctly Cape Town - a place where guests can unwind, connect, and soak up the coastal atmosphere.
Project Highlights:
Complete refurbishment of the pool and terrace areas.
Added hardwood decking, new tiling, and expanded landscaped spaces.
Introduced a yoga deck, kids’ play zone, and refreshed pool bar.
Delivered a resort-like experience in the heart of Bantry Bay.
Designed to be inviting for both locals and international visitors.
Challenges:
The project took place through the Cape winter, making weather a constant factor, and all work had to be completed within a tight timeline while the hotel continued operating at full capacity. Careful coordination, clear communication, and flexibility were key to keeping things on track - and the finished result not only met but surpassed expectations.
