Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel

Focus: Renovation and Additions

This was a ten-year journey to transform what was once an elegant bed and breakfast into one of Cape Town’s most recognised boutique hotels. As Group General Manager, I oversaw the full evolution of the property - from additional rooms to the introduction of a spa, gym, and a full-service restaurant that went on to win awards. My involvement included property acquisitions, town planning, architectural submissions, professional team appointments, budgeting, and opening.

Project Highlights:

  • Expanded the hotel’s room inventory by 11 additional suites.

  • Worked with the team to facilitate the design and launch of a full-service restaurant, now an award-winning destination in its own right.

  • Added wellness facilities, including a spa and gym, to enhance the guest experience.

  • Provided long-term management, ensuring consistency between the owner’s vision, guest experience, and operational delivery.

Challenges:
Navigating complex town planning processes and negotiations with local authorities and adjacent residents required persistence and collaboration. Maintaining the hotel’s intimate charm while expanding its footprint also demanded careful architectural integration and design sensitivity. Despite these challenges, the result is a cohesive, luxurious property that embodies a clear long-term vision realised over a decade.
